Parish Council Minutes

ST JOSEPH PARISH COUNCIL MEETING
MAY 28, 2019 7:00 pm


PRESENT: FATHER DAVID, RAY KOTTAK, JANE GARVEY, KATHY HOLLAND, MARGARET VAILE, GREG GIBBONS, VIRGINIA VAIL, JUDY REINHART, CONNIE STEWART, CLAUDIA PERALTA, MIKE GARVEY


BUDGET REVIEW; Ray Kottak from Finance Council reviewed the budget and took
questions. The parish council approved for next fiscal year.


PRAYER AND REFLECTION


MINUTES: The minutes of the last meeting, April 30, 2019 were approved with the addition of
“Members of Parish Council with terms ending this year: Margaret Vaile and Barbara Allman. Fr David will select two new members next month.” Greg made motion to approve,Virginia second the motion.


PARISH FAITH: Greg looking at volunteer management systems. My Parish App is an option
and also the Archdiocese is looking at replacing their system and we may have opportunity to
look at their options. Claudia showed us the Sign Up Genius App which is used in several
schools.


Fr David noted that Flocknote is adding a new feature with volunteer calendar but the cost
could be prohibitive. He is looking at Breeze as a less expensive option. Greg noted that 6 religious ed teachers are retiring and we’ll need to replace them for next years classes. Deacon Michael is working on a retreat day for Parish Council sometime in the fall.


PARISH LIFE: Claudia reported about upcoming St Joseph Picnic needs volunteers.
Fr David reported the owner of Odeon would like to collaborate with St Joseph’s Oktoberfest.
He recommended closing Webster for a block party. St Joseph would make the food and sell
beer and Odeon would provide a German band. Parish Life requested $10,000 for kitchen
upgrade. It is included in the 2019-2020 budget.


ADMINISTRATION: Fr David wrote a letter to the parish regarding the Steeples Campaign. We
are awaiting the decision from the archdiocese. Connie reported that 174 parishioners have
donated to campaign and we have received 470 non-parishioner donations.


OLD BUSINESS/NEW BUSINESS: Fr David will ask the city to designate permanent handicap
parking spots in front of church.
